Director and Faculty Positions in IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research

The IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research at Beijing Normal University (IMIBR-BNU, http://imibr.bnu.edu.cn ) is seeking faculty members and a permanent director. The IMIBR-BNU was established in 2011, with a focus on the brain mechanisms for cognitive functions and their disorders, and the psychological and neural development of children. The ultimate goals are to understand the brain and the human mind, and to apply this knowledge to improve education and child development, and to help people suffering from brain disorders.

We are seeking candidates with a research focus in, but not limited to, any of the following four areas: 1) neural basis of cognitive functions, with an emphasis on learning; 2) neural basis of psychological development; 3) mechanisms of cognitive and emotional disorders; 4) advanced methodology for studies of structural and functional connectivity of the human brain.

BNU (http://english.bnu.edu.cn/ ) is a renowned institution in China with a traditional strength in educational and psychological research. Cognitive neuroscience has also become a research focus and strength since the establishment of the National Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning (http://psychbrain.bnu.edu.cn/) at BNU in 2005. Multidisciplinary approaches and research facilities, ranging from molecular, cellular, cortical to behaviora高层次人才网l levels, are available for scientists using human subjects and animal models.

The salary and startup support for IMIBR-BNU faculty members will be competitive with international standards. Applicants are expected to have a good track record and strong potential in any of the above research areas. The faculty search will remain open until the initial sixteen positions are filled.

In addition to faculty members we are also seeking a permanent director of the IMIBR-BNU. The salary and benefits will follow the Recruitment Program of Global Experts initiated by the Chinese government. The director is expected to be a well established neuroscientist who is capable of leading IMIBR-BNU as an internationally renowned institute in brain and cognitive sciences.
