About the Climate System Dynamics Group:
The Climate System Dynamics Group, led by Dr. De-Zheng Sun, focuses on understanding and predicting the dynamic state of the Earth's climate system, particularly its stability and variability under anthropogenic forcing. Current research questions include whether El Niño will become more frequent and stronger in response to anthropogenic forcing, and whether the Earth's entire climate system could undergo a Venus-style runaway instability. In addition to advancing knowledge of Earth's climate dynamics, the group seeks to apply insights from climate system research to improve the understanding and prediction of other complex systems vital to the survival and flourishing of humanity.
