ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

　　Institut Pasteur of Shanghai (IPS) is an independent research institution jointly established by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Institut Pasteur and Shanghai Municipal Government in 2004. IPS is dedicated to en­hancing preparedness and responsiveness to infectious diseases through conduct­ing cutting-edge research and sustained translation of solutions. IPS is a member of the Institut Pasteur International Network (IPIN), which consists of 33 research insti­tutes in 26 countries on 5 continents.  

　　IPS has evolved three interdisciplinary research fields that cover pathogen biology, infection and immunity, vaccinology and immune therapy. IPS performs fundamental research on infectious diseases with unmet medi­cal needs, including AIDS, drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, oncogenic viral infections, emerging viral infections, fungal and parasite infec­tions.  

　　IPS is working closely with CAS and IPIN member institutes to address the great challenge of public health in countries along the Silk Road, fighting against emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, from highly pathogenic influenza virus to Zika virus. Joint efforts range from pathogen discovery and solutions to disease control and prevention.

　　THE VACANCY

　　IPS is seeking both established and junior researchers for faculty positions (Principal Investigator) in the fields of Pathogen Discovery and Big Data, Molecular Epidemiology of Tropical Diseases, Infection and Immunity, Structural Virology/Immunology, DNA/RNA Viruses of Significant Medical Burden, Genomics and Systems Biology, and Molecular Imaging, Drug Discovery-Cutting edge innovation in antibodies and vaccines. 

　　Track 1: Senior Professor

　　Candidate should hold a professor position at world-renowned universities or institutes, with outstanding multidisciplinary research capacities as well as strategic vision and leadership capacity to steer the future direction of Infection Immunology at IPS.Successful candidate will be funded by CAS 100 Talent Program (Category A)with a minimal startingfund of 10 million RMB. 

　　Track 2: Principal Investigator

　　Candidates must have a Ph.D or M.D. degree and at least three-year postdoctoral training, and have sufficient research experience to demonstrate both significant accomplishment and outstanding potential. Candidates with independent extramurally funded research program, a track record of publications in leading peer-reviewed journals will be preferred. This track has 6 positions open for application. Successful candidates are expected to apply for the National 1000 Young Talent Program or CAS 100 Talent Program (Category B/C).

Additional relocation pro­grams between members of IPIN are available. This includes the pos­sibility for talented young scientists to run their own laboratories in one of the multiple centers in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia.
